A discretely sweet Pinot Gris !
  • The vintage
  • The 2014 growing season was once again extremely erratic. A mild and dry winter was followed by a warm, often summery spring. Bud break and flowering took place early and vine growth was only slowed by a significant lack of rain. August was cool and while the grapes matured correctly, acidities remained high.
    The Crémant harvest began on September 3rd.. The AOC Alsace and Grand Crus followed quickly on September 15th. Attacks of Alsace’s latest vineyard pest, the Suzukii fruit fly, created organizational havoc. The Suzukii likes pink and red skinned fruits and our Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, Muscat and Pinot Noir were choice meals! Though drastic grape sorting created a 30% loss in some vineyard parcels, the resulting quality presents great varietal aromas.
    The winners of the vintage are the Crémant, Pinot Blanc, Sylvaner and Riesling! The rich grape acidities helped create wines that are perfect for high gastronomy and long aging. The Indian summer also permitted the production of quality late harvest wines.

  • Our domaine is BIO Ecocert France certified, since 2013.
    Our goal is to foster soil enrichment with cover crops, composts, mulching and minimum tillage. We adapt cover crops to our local rainfall. When abundant, we let the grasses grow. When particularly dry, we till the soil or use the rolofaca which bends the grasses and creates a mulch. Grapes are hand harvested in early October.
  • Winemaking
  • Grapes are placed in pneumatic presses by gravity and gently pressed for 3-6 hrs to preserve maximum varietal flavors and aromas. Juices are then fermented on lees in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. Sterile cartridge filtration and bottling takes place in August.

  • Service
  • Can be aged 5-8 years. Store on side between 10-15°C. Ideally served between 8-10°C.
  • Food pairings
  • Ideal as an aperitif but lovely with mushroom dishes, terrines, veal and chicken as well.
  • Tasting
  • Lightly smoky aromas precede an elegant, rich mouth. Mouthwatering and well balanced with a refreshing final.
