The summit of our production!

Sipp Mack Alsace Riesling Grand Cru Rosacker 2014 FR-BIO-01

The summit of our production!
  • The vintage
  • The 2014 growing season was once again extremely erratic. A mild and dry winter was followed by a warm, often summery spring. Bud break and flowering took place early and vine growth was only slowed by a significant lack of rain. August was cool and while the grapes matured correctly, acidities remained high.
The AOC Alsace and Grand Crus harvest began on September 15th.
The winners of the vintage were the Crémant, Pinot Blanc, Sylvaner and Riesling! The rich grape acidities helped create wines that are perfect for high gastronomy and long aging.
  • Terroir
  • The Rosacker Grand Cru covers 26.18 Ha just North of Hunawihr. East-South East slopes with an altitude of 260-330m. The soil is heavy clay soil with sandstone strata.
Young, our Riesling Rosacker wines are typically crisp, with a slight peppery character. As they age, their flavors intensify and become full and deliciously mineral.
  • In the vineyard
  • Our family vineyards are certified Organic by Ecocert France since 2013.
Our choice to develop the natural balances in our soils guides us. Chemical herbicides and pesticides are prohibited and replaced by appropriate and precise organic treatments at all times. Plowing and hoeing aerate the soils and encourage full development of their extraordinary potential. The grapes are hand harvested between mid September and October.
  • Winemaking
  • The vintage and harvest date are primordial in our wine making protocol. To guarantee impeccable quality, the harvest, once perfectly ripe, is pressed slowly and delicately for about 5 hours. To preserve the delicious flavors and aromas, we have chosen to keep only the heart of each press.
After 24 hours of cold decantation, the fermentations continue until February. The wines are kept on their fine lees in stainless steel tanks and bottled in the late Summer before the new harvest.
