The Hachette Wine Guide 2013

Pinot Gris Vendanges Tardives Amélie 2009 *

In 1959, Francois Sipp from Ribeauvillé married Marie-Louise Mack from the neighbouring town of Hunawihr.  During the next generation, the old world joined the new world with the marriage of Jacques and Laura from the United States.  Here, we find opulent late harvest, rich in sugar, that remind each taster of a Selection of Grains Nobles. An intense yellow with copper nuances, this Pinot Gris offers a complex nose with notes of botrytis and ripe mango, slightly smoky.  The first taste is dominated with sweetness yet shows a wine that is full bodied and rich yet fresh. To let the sugar and the acidity the time to melt together, we suggest to age this bottle until 2014.  (Residual sugar : 99.6 g/l.)

Rosacker Riesling 2010 *

The winery was created after the mariage of Jacques’ parents who originated from Hunawihr and Ribeauvillé.  Jacques took the reins in 1984 after an internship in the United States where he met his wife. The couple regularly proposes beautiful wines, like this Riesling from Hunawihr’s Grand Cru.  The delicate nose evokes white flowers and fresh peaches and pears.  The mouth, frank and well balanced, has citrus and mineral aromas. Already very harmonious, this 2010 will develop well over the next 3-4 years.  Serve with an excellent fish dish. (Residual sugar : 8.4 g/l.)
